State of the Art Esthetic Techniques in Oral Plastic
Surgery: Esthetic Connective
Tissue Grafts and Papillae Regeneration (0-501)
Instructor: W.
Peter Nordland, D.M.D., M.S., F.A.A.E.D.
This two-day course provides advanced microsurgical training
for the specialist or generalist who is experienced in periodontal
surgery. Dr. Nordland will skillfully teach you how to obtain
repeated, beautiful and predictable periodontal plastic surgery.
In this workshop, he will demonstrate the use of the Connective
Tissue Graft to achieve esthetic periodontal regeneration.
He will guide you through the technical details of this microsurgical
hands-on training with the use of fresh specimen pig jaws
to give a realistic, but stress-free surgical experience.
Live patient treatment is viewed via the operating microscope
educational video system. Surgical instrument selection and
modification of instruments to enhance results will be shared.
Principles for success with microsuture technique will also
be emphasized. Additionally, predictable techniques for graft
placement to enhance papillae formation will be shown.
The papillae regeneration portion will focus on microsurgical
regeneration of the lost interdental papillae. This advanced
periodontal microsurgical module will include a live patient
demonstration. Course registrants are encouraged to photo-document
problem cases for discussion. All avenues of multi-disciplinary
approaches will be addressed; however, surgical correction
will be the emphasis and goal of this course. Full armamentarium
and course manual will be provided.
Dr. Peter Nordland, senior faculty member of the Newport
Coast Oral Facial Institute, presents an exciting two-day
workshop on Microscopic Periodontal Surgical Techniques.
This seminar will be a combination of lecture, hands-on workshop,
live patient demonstration, and participant microscopic exercises
on pig jaws. Each participant will personally experience the
advantage that vision enhancement through magnification with
a surgical microscope can bring to periodontal procedures.**
Dr. Nordland’s personal documentation of increased healing
times, decreased patient discomfort, and sophisticated results
will be shown.
In this two-day, fast-paced participation
course, you will learn:
- How to predictably perform gingival
root coverage without any visible incisions to provide ideal
esthetics
- How to regenerate the lost inter-dental
papilla
- How to improve your periodontal surgical
results through the power of magnification
- How to master the ergonomics of working
under magnification
- How to improve treatment selection for
ultimate successful results
- How to make precise, minimally invasive
microsurgical incision
- The criteria for donor site selection
- The importance of proper surgical instrument
selection and modification
- The principles for success with micro-suture
techniques
- The newest techniques for graft placement
to enhance papilla formation
- How to enhance predictability through improved
vision
This workshop combines lecture and hands-on formats along
with the small class size to provide individual, needs-specific
mentoring from instructors to participants.
Students are encouraged to bring a challenging
or interesting case for review with the instructors and possible
sharing with the entire class.
The tuition for this two-day course is $4,090.
